At Stratminds, we believe events should do more than entertain—they should educate, uplift, and inspire. So when Ayala Malls tapped us to bring Booklat to life in partnership with Big Bad Wolf Books Philippines, we said yes without hesitation. Literacy isn’t just a cause we support; it’s a mission we hold close.
Launched in June 2024, Booklat was Ayala Malls’ bold response to the growing need for accessible, community-centered reading experiences. A playful twist on the Filipino word buklat (“to open a book”), it was a campaign that invited everyone—from lifelong readers to curious mall-goers—to step into new worlds. With its message Open. Imagine. Discover., Booklat became more than just a tagline—it was an invitation.
The campaign began quietly, with a cozy space tucked inside the Glorietta Activity Center. Meant to complement the larger Big Bad Wolf book sale, this initial activation proved that even a small setup could spark imagination. The booth featured nostalgic brands like Papemelroti and Lyric, reading nooks with Jenga blocks and shape sorters, and live music from the local busking community. Despite its modest footprint, the energy was undeniable—warm, creative, and welcoming.
By August 2024, Booklat had grown. At the Palm Drive Activity Center, it bloomed into a full-fledged celebration of stories, culture, and creativity.
The second leg featured a lively mix of local favorites and immersive experiences. Panco Coffee served up comfort, Mister Donut let guests decorate their own pastries, and Fiesta Philippines invited families to customize shirts on the spot. Biblio hosted a mini book fair within the event, complete with live storytelling that brought books to life for wide-eyed children.
Music was everywhere—not just from buskers, but violinists, pianists, and guitarists who filled the space with a soundtrack that made people pause and take it all in. And at the creative core of the activation were workshops by Ang INK, the Illustrators of the Filipino Youth. Children made puppets, molded clay, and watched their ideas come alive with their own hands.
At the center of both legs was the Book Donation Drive—a quiet but powerful reminder that books are meant to be shared. Guests were encouraged to give back, adding a layer of purpose to the joy.
Booklat wasn’t just a mall activation. It became a space for imagination, for discovery, and for meaningful moments. It turned casual foot traffic into deeper engagement. It gave local brands a platform to connect with new audiences. And it helped transform Ayala Malls into more than just a shopping center—but into a space for families, for dreamers, and for readers of all ages.
For us at Stratminds, Booklat was a rare kind of project—one that hits both head and heart. It wasn’t just about driving numbers or tenant exposure. It was about creating a space where literacy felt joyful, inclusive, and alive.
Because when we open a book, we open a little more of ourselves, too.
